With your IRD number sorted, you're now ready to start looking for work. Here's how to set yourself up for the NZ job market.

    Keep it to 2 pages. No photo. No date of birth. No marital status. Include: NZ phone number, NZ address (even temporary), visa status with work conditions. Immigration NZ links to TahatΕ« Career Navigator.

    Register on job sites

    Seek.co.nz (biggest), Trade Me Jobs, LinkedIn, Indeed NZ. Set up job alerts for your industry.

    Check your visa work conditions

    Immigration NZ: "Remember to also check your visa's work conditions." Some visas restrict employer, hours, or industry. Know your limits.

    Get a NZ bank account statement for rental applications

    Print or download from your banking app. You'll need this when applying for flats. Shows you have NZ funds.

    Join local Facebook groups

    Search "[your city] flatmates wanted", "[city] jobs", "[your nationality] in NZ". Best source for short-term work + housing.
